Dr. Richard Gardner Parental Alienation Syndrome (PAS) Debunked (member of NAMBLA)
Dr. Richard Gardner, M.D.
Born On April 28, 1931
Committed Suicide May 25, 2003 "CAUSE OF DEATH: Incised wounds of chest and neck." Allow us to disabuse the pro-abusers. Dr. Richard Gardner's son told the New York Times that his father committed suicide. Contrary to assertions made by the father's rights movement, Richard Gardner most certainly did not die "peacefully in his sleep". It was far uglier than that.
Read now about this twisted pathetic man, his ridiculous PAS theory, and the untold damage that he has done.
In Gardner's Own Words Dr. Richard Gardner:
"Sex Abuse Hysteria:
Salem Witch Trials Revisited''
''What I am against is the excessively moralistic and punitive reaction that many members of our society have toward pedophiles ... (going) far beyond what I consider to be the gravity of the crime.''
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:
In his 1992 book, ''True and False Accusations of Child Sex Abuse,'' Gardner writes that pedophilia -- adults having sexual relations with children -- ''is a widespread and accepted practice among literally billions of people.''
Richard Gardner says,
''all of us have some pedophilia within us.''

"Has Psychiatry Gone Psycho?"
By Kelly Patricia O'Meara
According to the developer of the theory, Richard A. Gardner, a clinical professor of child psychiatry, PAS is "a disorder of children, arising almost exclusively in child-custody disputes, in which one parent (usually the mother) programs the child to hate the other parent (usually the father)."
. . . . If a child demonstrates negative feelings toward the father, Gardner's PAS puts the blame on the mother and explains that the confusion is best remedied by increasing the child's time with the father.
When a child has been sexually abused and feels guilt about it, Gardner suggests, the child may be helped to appreciate that "sexual encounters between an adult and a child are not universally considered to be reprehensible acts.
The child might be told about other societies in which such behavior was and is considered normal."
If sexual urges continue after the abuse ends, Gardner suggests such children be encouraged to masturbate.
Gardner suggests that the molesting-father's behavior should be understood. The father "has to be helped to appreciate that, even today, (pedophilia) is a widespread and accepted practice among literally billions of people" and "he (the father) has had a certain amount of bad luck with regard to the place and time he was born with regard to social attitudes toward pedophilia."
Gardner, Richard A., Child Custody Litigation (1986) p.93
"At the present time, the sexually abused child is generally considered to be the victim," though the child may initiate sexual encounters by 'seducing' the adult."
Gardner, Richard A.,
True and False Accusations of Child Sex Abuse (1992)
"It is of interest that of all the ancient peoples it may very well be that the Jews were the only ones who were punitive toward pedophiles."
Ibid. pp.46-47
Many child advocates are "charlatans, and/or psychopaths, and/or incompetents."
Ibid. p.526
"It is extremely important for therapists to appreciate that the child who has been genuinely abused may not need psychotherapeutic intervention."
Ibid. p.535
"If the mother has reacted to the abuse in a hysterical fashion, or used it as an excuse for a campaign of denigration of the father, then the therapist does well to try and 'sober her up'...Her hysterics... will contribute to the child's feeling that a heinous crime has been committed and will thereby lessen the likelihood of any kind of rapproachment with the father.
One has to do everything possible to help her put the 'crime' in proper perspective. She has to be helped to appreciate that in most societies in the history of the world, such behavior was ubiquitous, and this is still the case."
Ibid. p.584-585
"Of relevance here is the belief by many of these therapists that a sexual encounter between an adult and a child -- no matter how short, no matter how tender, loving, and non-painful -- automatically and predictably must be psychologically traumatic to the child... The determinant as to whether the experience will be traumatic is the social attitude toward these encounters."
Ibid. pp.670-71
"I believe it is reasonable to say that at this time there are millions of people in the United States who are either directly accusing or supporting false sex-abuse accusations and/or are reacting in an extremely exaggerated fashion to situations in which bona fide sex abuse has occurred."
Ibid. p.688
Richard Gardner in ''Sex Abuse Hysteria''
Judges''may have repressed pedophilic impulses over which there is suppression, repression, and guilt. Inquiry into the details of the case provides voyeuristic and vicarious gratifications."
Unscientific Garbage!
University of Washington Professor
John Conte has described Gardner's "Sex Abuse Legitimacy
Scale" as
"probably the most unscientific piece of garbage I've seen in the field in all my time. To base social policy on something as flimsy as this is exceedingly dangerous."
According to "Violence In The Family," a 1996 report of the American Psychological Association Presidential Task Force on Violence And the Family:
The task force found that court decisions awarding an allegedly abusive father custody of his children "... may improperly rely on inaccurate and unsupported theories such as The Parental Alienation Syndrome."
Margaret Hagen, a Boston University professor of psychology and author of Whores of the Court, says
"parental alienation is just another bogus psychological theory infecting the nation's legal system."
Carol S. Bruch, Professor of Law and Chair,
Doctoral Program me in Human Development,
University of California, Davis
Parental Alienation Syndrome:
Junk Science in Child Custody Determinations "Possibly as a consequence of these errors and his 'tail-of-the-elephant' view, Gardner vastly overstates the frequency of cases in which children and custodial parents manufacture false allegations or collude to destroy the parent-child relationship.
Taken together, these assertions have the practical effect of impugning all abuse allegations, allegations that Gardner asserts are usually false in the divorce context.
Here, too, Gardner cites no evidence in support of his personal view, and there levant literature reports the contrary, that such allegations are usually well-founded."
According to John E. B. Myers in his article,
"What Is Parental Alienation Syndrome
And Why Is It So Often Used Against Mothers?"
"Dr. Gardner's Parental Alienation Syndrome has not, to my knowledge, been subjected to empirical study, research,or testing. Nor to my knowledge has the syndrome been published in peer reviewed medical or scientific journals."
The American Prosecutors Research Institute in Virginia
"that Gardner's research, including PAS,has not been peer-reviewed or officially recognized by the AMA and the APA. Gardner has been able to get around the peer review process by publishing his own works. Creative Therapeutics, which published "Parental Alienation Syndrome", is Gardner's own publishing company."
Attack The Mother
According to John E.B. Myers in his article,
"What Is Parental Alienation Syndrome And Why Is It So Often Used Against Mothers?""If you are a woman and you allege child sexual abuse, expect to be attacked with Richard Gardner's Parental Alienation Syndrome. Gardner's writing is popular among attorney's who represent men accused of abuse, and among some mental health professionals."Trish Wilson
How"Parental Alienation Syndrome" is Used Against Mothers And Children Who Allege Child Sexual Abuse PAS is very popular amongst members of the father's rights movement as well as men who have been charged with both child abuse and domestic violence. Fathers' rights group sequate "lack of substantiation" with "lying."If she alleged abuse, she could be slapped with "Parental Alienation Syndrome"and lose custody of her children -- which ultimately was the final out come. If she ignored the abuse, she was told by a crisis intervention counselor that she could be prosecuted for failure to protect.
Damned if you do. Damned if you don't.
Judith Reisman, president of the Institute for Media Education and author of Kinsey, Crimes and Consequences, has another view.
"Anyone who thinks and says that incest can be avoided if the mother has better sex with the father may clinically be defined as a psychopath and needs help."She adds that "buying a vibrator is not going to make a happy home. Obviously he has his own demons to deal with."
Robin Yeamans, California attorney
Once a mother is called an alienator, police are informed, social workers are informed, and everything she says from then on counts for nothing. Who knows dozens of women who have lost their children in alienation cases?
The Family and Juvenile Court always Sends the Mother who is accused of PAS to a Psychologist and ,or therapist from the Court's list. They are almost always Bio-energetic.
Wilhem Reich the founder of Bio-energetic Therapy
Wilhelm Reich (March 24, 1897 – November 3, 1957) was an Austrian-American psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, known as one of the most radical figures in the history of psychiatry. He was the author of several notable textbooks, including The Mass Psychology of Fascism and Character Analysis, both published in 1933.
Reich worked with Sigmund Freud in the 1920s and was a respected analyst for much of his life, focusing on character structure rather than on individual neurotic symptoms. He tried to reconcile Marxismand psycho analysis, arguing that neurosis is rooted in the physical, sexual, economic, and social conditions of the patient, and promoted adolescent sexuality, open relationships outside marriage, the availability of contraceptives, abortion, and divorce, and the importance for women of economic independence. His work influenced a generation of intellectuals, including Saul Bellow, William Burroughs, Paul Edwards, Norman Mailer, and A. S. Neill, and shaped innovations such as Fritz Perls's Gestalt therapy, Alexander Lowen's bioenergetic analysis, and Arthur Janov's primal therapy.
Later in life, he became a controversial figure who was both adored and condemned. He began to violate some of the key taboos of psycho analysis, using touch during sessions, and treating patients in their underwear to improve their "orgastic potency." He said he had discovered a primordial cosmic energy, which he said others called God, and which he called "orgone."He built"orgone energy accumulators" that his patients sat inside to harness the reputed health benefits, leading to newspaper stories about"sex boxes" that cured cancer.
Reich was living in Germany when Hitler came to power in January1933. On March 2, the Nazi newspaper Völkischer Beobachter published an attack on one of Reich's pamphlets, The Sexual Struggle of Youth. He left immediately for Vienna, then Scandinavia, moving to the United States in 1939. In 1947, following a series of articles about orgone in The New Republic and Harper's, the Food and Drug Administration(FDA) obtained an injunction against the interstate sale of orgone accumulators. Charged with contempt for violating it,Reich conducted his own defense, which involved sending the judge all his books to read and arguing that a court was no place to decide matters of science. He was sentenced to two years in prison, and in August 1956, several tons of his publications were burned by the FDA, arguably one of the worst examples of censorship in U.S. history. He died in jail of heart failure just over a year later, days before he was due to apply for parole.
Vegetharapy and the orgasm
Reich stayed in Norway for five years, working under the auspices of Professor Schjelderup of the Psychological Institute at the Universityof Oslo.
He first presented the principles of his vegetotherapy in a paper called "Psychic contact and vegetative current" in August1934 at the 13th International Congress of Psychoanalysis at Lucerne,Switzerland, and went on to develop the technique between 1935and 1940. Vegetotherapy involves the patient physically simulating the effects of certain emotions, in the hope of triggering them. Reich argued that the ability to feel sexual love depended on a physical ability to make love with what he called "orgastic potency." He tried to measure the male orgasm, noting that four distinct phases occurred physiologically: first, the psycho sexual build-up or tension; second, the tumescenceof the penis, with an accompanying charge, which Reich measured electrically; third, an electrical discharge at the moment of orgasm; and fourth, the relaxation of the penis. He believed the force that he measured was a distinct type of energy present in all lifeforms.
He was a prolific writer for psychoanalytic journals in Europe. Originally, psychoanalysis was focused on the treatment of neurotic symptoms. Reich's Character Analysis was a major step in the development of what today would be called ego psychology. In Reich's view, a person's entire character, not only individual symptoms, could be looked at and treated as a neurotic phenomenon. The book also introduced Reich's theory of body armoring. He argued that unreleased psycho sexual energy could produce actual physical blocks within muscles and organs, and that these act as a "body armor" preventing the release of the energy. An orgasm was one way to break through the armor. These ideas developed into a general theory of the importance of a healthy sex life to overall well-being, a theory compatible with Freud's views.
His idea was that the orgasm was not simply a device to aid recreation, but was the body's emotional energy regulator. The better the orgasm, the more energy was released, meaning that less was available to create neurotic states. Reich called the ability to release sufficient energy during orgasm "orgastic potency,"something that very few individuals could achieve, he argued, because of society's sexual oppression. A man or woman without orgastic potency was in a constant state of tension, developing a body armor to keep it in. The outer rigidity and inner anxiety is the state of neurosis, leading to hate, sadism, greed, and at a political level, fascism and antisemitism.
He agreed with Freud that sexual development was the origin of
mental illness. They both believed that most psychological states
were dictated by unconscious processes; that infant sexuality
develops early but is repressed, and that this has important
consequences for mental health. At that time a Marxist (see
Freudo-Marxism),Reich argued that the source of sexual repression was
bourgeo is morality and the socio-economic structures that produced
it. A ssexual repression was the cause of the neuroses, the best cure
would be to have an active, guilt-free sex life. He argued that such
a liberation could come about only through amorality not imposed by a
repressive economic structure. In 1928, he joined the Austrian
Communist Party and founded the Socialist Association for Sexual
Counseling and Research, which organized counseling centers for
workers.
Nudity and touching in therapy
From 1930 onwards, Reich became more interested in his patients' physical responses during therapy sessions, and toward the late1930s, he began to treat patients outside the limits of psycho analysis's restrictions, though well within the scope of general medicine. He began to sit next to his patients, rather than behind them, in order to make stronger 'contact.' He started touching them, to both increase awareness of tension and contraction and to relieve it directly. He would ask his male patients to undress down to their shorts, and sometimes to undress entirely, and his female patients down to their underclothes. He began talking to them, answering their questions, rather than the stock, "Why do you ask?" analyst's reponse.
From a psychoanalytic point of view, this undermined the position of neutrality. The analyst is meant to be a blank screen onto which the patient projects his old desires, his loves, his hates, his neurosis-- a process known as transference. Reich wrote that the psychoanalytic taboos reinforced the neurotic taboos of the patient. He slowly broke away from them, writing that he wanted his patients to see him as human. He would press hard on their "body armor,"his thumb or the palm of his hand pressing on their jaws, necks, chests, backs, or thighs, aiming to dissolve their muscular, and thereby character ological, rigidity. He wanted to see their movements soften, their breathing ease. This dissolution of the "body armor" also brought back the repressed memory of the childhood situation that had caused the repression, he wrote. If the session worked as intended, he wrote that he could see waves of pleasure move through their bodies, a series of spontaneous, involuntary movements. Reich called these the "orgasm reflex." The two goals of Reichian therapy became the attainment of this orgasm reflex during therapy, and orgastic potency during intercourse. Reich called the flow of energy that he said he observed in his patients' bodies, "bio-electricity," and considered calling his therapy "orgasmotherapy," but thought better of it for political reasons.
Most Bio-energetic therapist, psychologist and psychiatrist are members Of NAMBLA.
The North American Man/Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) is a New York City and San Francisco based unincorporated organization in the United States that advocates the liberalization of laws against sexual relations between adult and minor males - resolving to "end the oppression of men and boys who have freely chosen mutually consenting relationships". NAMBLA also calls for "the adoption of laws that both protect children from unwanted sexual experiences and at the same time leave them free to determine the content of their own sexual experiences." NAMBLA's webpage claims that: "NAMBLA does not provide encouragement, referrals or assistance for people seeking sexual contacts" and that it does not "engage in any activities that violate the law [or] advocate that anyone else should [violate the law]."
NAMBLA holds an annual gathering in New York City and monthly meetings around the country. In the early 1980s, NAMBLA was reported to have had over 300 members, and was defended by such noted figures as poet Allen Ginsberg and author Samuel R. Delany. Since then, the organization has kept membership data private, but an undercover FBI investigation in 1995 discovered that there were 1,100 people on the rolls. It is the largest organization in the umbrella group Ipce (formerly "International Pedophile and Child Emancipation").
Since 1995, public criticism and law enforcement infiltration have heavily impaired the organization. Its national headquarters now consists of little more than a private mail box service in San Francisco, and they rarely respond to inquiries. Some reports state that the group no longer has regular national meetings, and that as of the late 1990s to avoid local police infiltration, the organization discouraged the formation of local chapters.
NAMBLA describes itself as a "support group for intergenerational relationships," and uses the slogan "sexual freedom for all."
One of the group's arguments is that age of consent laws unnecessarily criminalize sexual relationships between adults and minors (particularly boys). In 1980 a NAMBLA general meeting passed a resolution, which said: "(1) The North American Man/Boy Love Association calls for the abolition of age-of-consent and all other laws which prevent men and boys from freely enjoying their bodies. (2) We call for the release of all men and boys imprisoned by such laws." This policy was still in NAMBLA's "official position papers" in 1996.
According to Roy Radow, a NAMBLA principal, NAMBLA has opposed corporal punishment, rape and kidnapping, and has declared that sexual exploitation is grounds for expulsion from the group.
NAMBLA emerged from the tumultuous political atmosphere of the 1970s, particularly from the Gay Liberation movement that followed the 1969 Stonewalls riots in New York City. Although discussion of gay adult-minor sex did take place, gay rights groups immediately following the Stonewall riot were more concerning issues of police harassment, nondiscrimination in employment, health care and other issues.
Not until a "sex ring" of underage boys brought intense media scrutiny in Boston in the closing weeks of 1977, and police raided the Toronto area gay newspaper The Body Politic for publishing an article by Gerald Hannon titled"Men Loving Boys Loving Men' did the subject of adult-minor sex garner enough attention to prompt the formation of a group like NAMBLA.
In December 1977, police raided a house in the Boston suburb of Revere. Twenty-four men were arrested and indicted on over 100 felony counts of the Statutory rape of boys aged eight to fifteen. Suffolk County District Attorney Garrett Byrne found that the men used drugs and Video Games to lure the boys into a house, where they photographed them as they engaged in sexual activity. The men were members of a "sex ring", and said that the arrest was only "the tip of the iceberg." The arrests sparked intense media coverage, and local newspapers published the photographs and personal information of the accused men.
Staff members of the homosexual newspaper Fag Rag believed the raid was politically motivated. They and others in Boston's gay community saw Byrne's round-up as an anti-gay witch-hunt. On December 9 they organized the Boston-Boise Committee, a name intended as a reference to a similar situation that unfolded in Boise, Idaho in the 1950s. The group sponsored rallies, provided funds for the defendants, and tried to educate the public about the case by passing out fliers. It would also later produce NAMBLA.
District Attorney Garrett Byrne was defeated in his re-election bid. The new DA said that no man should fear prison for having sex with a teenager unless coercion was involved. All charges were dropped. The few who had already pled or been found guilty received only probation.
On December 2, 1978, Tom Reeves of the Boston-Boise Committee convened a meeting called "Man/Boy Love and the Age of Consent." Approximately 150 interested people attended. At the meeting's conclusion, about thirty men and youths decided to form an organization which they called the North American Man/Boy Love Association, or NAMBLA for short.
WE KNOW THEY ARE SOME PARENTS WHO ARE VINDICTIVE AND WILL SAVATAGE THE CHILDRENS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE OTHER PARENT BUT THAT IS CALLED GOOD OL FASHION VINDICTIVENESS. IF ALLEGATION OF ABUSE IS ALLEGED NOT MATTER RATHER IT IS FROM THE FATHER OR MoTHER, IT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BY A SPECIAL AGENT INVESTIGATOR FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT WITH NO CIVIL COURT ENVOLVMENT. ALL APPROVIATE CHARGES NEED BE FILED RATHER IT IS FOR CHILD ABUSE OR FALSE ALLEGATIONS. SEX or GENDER SHOULD HAVE NO FAVORTISM.
BIG HOT SHOT ATTORNEYS like San Diego Family law attorney Jeffrey P. Wade like to blow smoke with PAS and how Richard Garner was a Brilliant Expert!
Many also claim he died a peace full death when in fact the LUNATIC, PEDOPHILE killed himself! And in the most brutal psychotic way!!!!
